9 Janar, 2016

Pristina, 9 January 2016

Security Council of Kosovo strongly condemns the escalation in violence of the protest organized by opposition parties in the Kosovo capital, Pristina.

Recognizing and respecting the right to peaceful protest, the Kosovo Security Council invites the organizers to exercise their responsibility that belongs to them to remove from the streets of the capital of Kosovo, all the violent protesters.
Security Council urges opposition parties to give up this scenario for the use of violence and dangerous means, for collapse of institutional and constitutional order in Kosovo.

It is regrettable that, justifying the action of violent protesters, the organizers of the protest, clearly are taking over the attacks on state institutions and challenging the Kosovo Police in performing official duties to maintain order and public peace.
Security Council of Kosovo requires protest organizers to cooperate with state authorities to bring to justice those responsible for the consequences of the protests, in which were hurt some members of the Kosovo police, some protesters, but also some citizens, bystanders. It is the responsibility of the organizers of the protest the injury of people and material damage to public and private properties.

Security Council of Kosovo gives full support to the competent institutions of law and order in Kosovo to manage this situation and for the preservation of state institutions and the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo.
Security Council of Kosovo requests from law enforcement agencies, that in compliance with the laws and Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, to take all measures to fully investigate the events of today and bring those responsible to justice.
