The Government of Kosovo approved the decision to increase pensions

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, held its 88th regular meeting, whereby approved the Draft-Law on Child Protection, Decision to Increase Contribution-Payer Pensions, and other decisions within the scope of its constitutional and legal responsibilities.
 
Draft Law on Child Protection, which was approved by the Government Cabinet in the meeting held today, aims to protect children, ensure accountability of parents, family, and the state, as well as ensure the integration of the child protection system in the Republic of Kosovo.
 
The Government Cabinet reviewed the draft of the Annual Report on the Functioning of the Internal Control System of Public Finance in the Public Sector for 2015. The report presents the achievements, findings and measures to be taken in order to improve the control of public finances in the Republic of Kosovo.
 
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo approved the decision to increase the age contribution-payer pension, according to educational qualification. According to the decision, contribution-payer pensioner with low education will receive the amount of 158 Euros per month, pensioner with secondary education will receive 172 euro, pensioners with higher education will receive 186 euro, whereas those with superior education will receive 230 Euros.

Prime Minister Isa Mustafa commended such a decision considering it a great contribution of the Government and other institutions of the Republic of Kosovo in completing the perennial request of pensioners’.

“I believe that despite the fact that we could not provide the level of pensions that they deserve, based on contribution they have given,  which today they cannot use, nonetheless this is still a decent amount. However, we are contributing to the improvement of their standard and enabling them to a decent life. Therefore, I highly appreciate this very important decision taken today by the Government in favour of citizens and the safety of their lives” stated Prime Minister Mustafa.

In today’s meeting, the government cabinet approved the decision on allocation of funds for the Hospital and University Clinical Service of Kosovo for compensating the allowances of staff in the Invasive Cardiac Surgery Clinic for 2016. This will allow a 24-hour service, which will save approximately half a million Euros from the fund for the treatment of patients abroad.
 
The government has also issued a decision on the allocation of funds for the State Prosecutor, in order to cover the costs of rent for the building of Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica, and cover the costs of the inventory and information technology equipments.

Also, the request of the Ministry of Finance to allocate the contingency for correcting the formula – part of the General Grant in 2017 for Municipalities, was approved. These funds are allocated for 14 municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo with a population of less than 22 thousand residents.
 
Furthermore, the initiative for concluding the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Civil and Commercial Matters between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania was approved by the government cabinet.

The Government Cabinet approved the list of dual-use goods, which are subjected to state control on import and export.
 
The government has approved the decision to allow the exchange of immovable property between Kosovo Forestry Agency and the Municipality of Peja.

The Prime Minister Isa Mustafa stated that this project is one of the most important and largest projects of this Municipality, and that the municipality is determined to achieve this tourist project that is very important to the municipality, Kosovo, and the entire region.

“Therefore, I believe this way we can help economic growth and local economic development, but also Kosovo’s overall development” stated the Prime Minister.
 
The Government Cabinet also approved a decision on allocation of funds for the Regional Water Company of Mitrovica.
 
The Government was also informed regarding the Report on Performance of Revenues and Expenditures during the period from January to April 2016. During this period, was marked a revenue increase of 14.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
 
At today’s meeting were also discussed the preparations that are underway for a joint meeting between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Albania, which will be held on 3rd of June.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa required that all the preparations for this meeting are completed by the end of next week.
