In talks that lasted three days in Brussels that ended tonight, were confirmed implementing obligations on the issue of telephone country code for Kosovo. This process was successfully concluded with the mediation of the European Union, with which it was confirmed that under the Agreement on telecoms as provided by the plan for implementation for telecom, ITU will transmit to Kosovo dialing code 383 on 15 December 2016.
The delegation of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, the chief negotiator in Brussels Dialogue and in composition of which were Kreshnik Gashi, chairman of the board of RAEPC and professional coordinator for telecom, Gazmir Raci, political adviser to Minister Tahiri and political coordinator for telecom, Ilir Imeri, head of the department for electronic communications in the RAEPC, Mehdi Latifaj, technical director of Telecom of Kosovo, Elona Cecelia, Political Advisor and Haxhi Bajraktari from Kosovo Embassy in Brussels.
Minister Edita Tahiri on this occasion said that these three days of talks were concluded successfully, everything is already specified that Kosovo obtains its national dialling code 383 that the ITU shall allocate Kosovo dialling code directly on 15 December 2016. She said that for the first time in the history of Kosovo will have national dialling code.
Further, Minister Edita Tahiri said that the International Organization of the UN Telecommunications (ITU) on 15 December 2016 will give to the Republic of Kosovo its national dialling code that will be +383. By getting its national dialling code, the Republic of Kosovo gains state sovereignty in the field of telecommunications and its subjectivity as a state in the field of telecommunications will be recognized by the international community through its telephone code.
The Republic of Kosovo is the owner of 383 telephone code and Kosovo will have all the state rights to administer its own telephone code like all other states. In this context, Kosovo will cooperate with the ITU for the technical implementation of the telephone code. Kosovo will finally own telephone code while all existing codes 381, 377, 386 will be extinguished. Minister Tahiri stressed that it will terminate all illegal operators of mobile and fixed telephony of Serbia in Kosovo, for the first time after the war in Kosovo in 1999. She also once again reaffirmed that all calls from Kosovo in Serbia and vice versa will be international calls.
She said the agreement telephone code will have multiple positive effects, both in the state, sovereignty, economic and telecommunications.
She said that during the talks, the Kosovo side was confirmed that the authorization of temporary and limited in mobile telephony will be implemented according to plan on the day that Kosovo gets its own telephone code from the ITU, the Serb side confirmed that the letter that Serbia will send to ITU _ expressing consent to telephone code for Kosovo will be implemented in due time. Delegations of both countries confirmed before the EU that these documents are in full compliance with the Brussels agreement on telecom and action plan.
Minister Tahiri said that we thank the European Union for the effective mediation of this Agreement for Telecom and that this process results in the success proving the success of the Dialogue Brussels.
Minister Tahiri on this occasion expressed gratitude to all Kosovo state delegation for the hard and dedicated work all these years to achieve this success for Kosovo. She specifically praised the commitment of the chairman of the board of RAEPC same time professional coordinator of the state telecom group who showed the state and professional commitment to this process.
