The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi meets the Secretary General of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC)

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Behgjet Pacolli, in the line of official meetings in Saudi Arabia, met with the Secretary General of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.

Secretary Ihsanoglu expressed special appreciation for the first visit by Prime Minister Thaçi at the seat of this organization and presented a background of this organization regarding it support from Kosovo from 1996 until today.

Secretary Ihsanoglu pledged to continue his efforts for the recognition of Kosovo by other member states of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation that have not yet made this decision. It is worth mentioning that out of 57 member states of the IOC, 30 of them have recognized the independence of Kosovo.

Prime Minister Thaçi thanked Secretary Ihsanoglu for the warm reception and the contribution so far of the Islamic Organization for Cooperation and at the same time, he expressed the readiness of the Republic of Kosovo to further the cooperation with the member states of this organization.

Prime Minister Thaçi presented a picture of developments in Kosovo since the declaration of independence underlining that the independence of Kosovo has created peace and stability. As a result of the good work of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, on July 2, 2012, the International Steering Group will decide on concluding the supervised independence, emphasized Prime Minister Thaçi.

Prime Minister Thaçi used this opportunity and invited the IOC Secretary, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu for a visit in the Republic of Kosovo.
