The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaçi accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Behxhet Pacolli, met the King of Saudi Arabia, His Highness Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz al Saud.
Prime Minister Thaçi expressed his great pleasure about meeting His Excellency, King Abdullah al Saud and he thanked His Highness and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their contribution in the past and the assistance they are currently giving to Kosovo.
Prime Minister Thaçi thanked King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz al Saud for the decision to recognize Kosovo’s independence, in April 2009. Saudi Arabia has helped and supported Kosovo and its people in the most difficult times for our people, supporting Kosovar refugees in the entire region, and after the war, Saudi Arabia gave an extraordinary contribution, especially rebuilding schools, health centers and mosques destroyed by the war, Prime Minister Thaçi emphasized, amongst other things in the meeting.
Kosovo and Saudi Arabia cooperate excellently, but we are interested in deepening this cooperation and expanding it further. Saudi Arabia is a friendly state, a brotherly state and a key partner in this part of the world, and we are interested in developing this cooperation beyond diplomatic relations. Kosovo and Saudi Arabia can intensify cooperation in all areas: the economy, trade, tourism, investment, education, health and infrastructure.
Kosovo has passed through the emergency phase when it needed assistance and now it is passing through a new phase, a phase of economic development, being a stable country with a legal infrastructure.
The King of Saudi Arabia, His Highness Abdullah Ibn Abdylaziz al Saud expressed his pleasure at meeting the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, and as a sign of respect, the meeting was held on Friday.
Saudi Arabia plays an important role in the Arab Gulf States and has the same friends as Kosovo, said King Abdullah al Saud, and he assured Prime Minister Thaçi of continuing support and assistance for the new state of Kosovo, economically and diplomatically. The King of Saudi Arabia, L. T. Abdullah al Saud, said that all of Kosovo’s potential would be examined and that Saudi Arabia will assist with concrete projects relating to roads, education and other fields.
Prime Minister Thaçi asked the King of Saudi Arabia to support Kosovo in extending recognition in all countries where the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has influence.
