On the second day of his official visit to Japan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, along the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, met with the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yukio Edano.
Prime Minister Thaçi briefed Minister Ministri Edano on the developments in Kosovo, on the sustainability of the bank and fiscal sectors and on the ample opportunities that Kosovo offers in the economic field.
The Prime Minister pointed out that now is the right moment to advance the mutual interstate relations by focusing on the economic and trade cooperation.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi asked for support from Minister Edano in terms of the organization of an investment forum in Japan or for sending of a fact finding mission to explore the abundant opportunities offered by Kosovo.
The Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yukio Edano, first welcomed the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo and thanked the Government and the people of Kosovo for the support offered in the difficult times after the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan.
“We are grateful. I personally acknowledge the engagement of your government and the expression of solidarity by your people with our people in the days of the tragedy by lighting candles and organizing the concert of the Kosovo Philharmonics in sign of respect for the victims,” said Minister Edano.
“We are ready to continue supporting Kosovo in its economic development efforts, by promoting Kosovo in our companies and by continuing our support for Kosovo through JICA and by supporting our Government through JETRO in organizing an economic forum or any other need or request provided by Kosovo.
Prime Minister Thaçi and Minister Edano agreed on the need to further advance cooperation and to initiate meetings of intergovernmental groups to draft cooperation agreements.
