Prime Minister of Republic of Kosova Hashim Thaçi paid visits to Reçak Memorial and martyrs’ graveyards in Ferizaj, Kaçanik, Viti and village of Zhegër in Gjilan

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Hashim Thaçi, visited today the Memorial in Reçak and the graveyards of martyrs in Ferizaj, Kaçanik, Viti and Zhegër village of Gjilan, and paid homage at the graves of the martyrs of the nation and all the others who fell for Kosova.

Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi assessed on this occasion that his visit today to Reçak represents state respect for all the fallen for the independent, sovereign and democratic state of Kosova. “Reçak is the place of sacrifice and of brave resistance against Serbian army, police and paramilitary officers. Reçak is the place that sent a message from Kosova to the democratic world and the place that mobilized the people of Kosova. Reçak is the place that mobilized and put in motion the entire world diplomacy in the service of freedom and independence of Kosova, so we pay our respect and eternal tribute to all the fallen and the martyrs of the nation,” said Prime Minister Thaçi during his visit to the village of Reçak in Shtimje municipality.

Answering a question about security in Kosova, and in particular along the border with Serbia, Mr. Hashim Thaçi said that the territorial integrity of Kosova is inviolable, untouchable, and under the full authority of NATO and of the security institutions of the Republic of Kosova. “The authorities have the rights of using defence mechanism throughout the territory of Kosova. We are in regular contact and cooperation in order not to allow any inch of Kosova land be touched by anybody. Kosova has never before been safer. I am saying that the institutions are functioning with full responsibility and that we are functioning as a state. At the same time we respect and understand peaceful reactions that are guaranteed by law, however, we will never allow the violation of the territorial integrity of Kosova that is recognized internationally,” pointed out the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova.

Standing in front of the statue of martyrs in Ferizaj, the Prime Minister stressed that the sacrifice of the freedom martyrs, the sacrifice of the people of Kosova, the glorious past, and the pro-Western vision of the Kosovar politics have contributed to the declaration of the independence and to gaining of massive international recognition for our new democratic state. “Every citizen of Kosova should feel well and proud with their past and present. Now the institutions of Kosova will work on the economic development and on the prospective integration in the European Union and NATO structures,” he stressed.

Prime Minister Thaçi also visited the graves of the martyrs in Kaçanik, Viti and in Zhegër village of Gjilan, where he sent wreaths and paid homage at the graves of the martyrs of the nation and the others who fell for the country.
