Prime Minister Kurti talked with businesses from the Food and Beverage Sector to identify the necessary profiles

After the conversation with businesses from the Wood and Furniture sector, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today had another conversation with businesses from the Food and Beverage Sector to identify the necessary profiles of Education and Vocational Training in line of the needs of the labor market.

After thanking them for the commitment and contribution they have been making every day for many years, he said that it is a pleasure to discuss a very important issue, both for business in Kosovo and the economy, but also for good democratic governance. One of the main projects in the economy that our Government has, and which will transform this sector, is Education and Vocational Training, namely dual education, through which it will be aimed that for a diploma in our schools we must secure a job in our economy.

In this regard, he underlined that cooperation between the government and business is necessary. The connection between education and the economy today is decisive for what kind of state, economy, we will have in the following years of this decade and beyond, he added.

The beverage and food sector is a very important area of local business, the prime minister said, adding that in the industrial performance, it has resulted that the beverage and food sector, then the processing of wood and metals, rubber and plastic, non-metallic minerals, metal products and basic metals, but also sectors such as textiles, clothing and leather, are sectors that make up a large part of employment in Kosovo and that are growing from year to year, from month to month months as well.

Further, the prime minister said that according to the interest expressed by the municipalities and schools themselves, in the school year 2023/2024, 8 additional profiles will be offered in 21 vocational schools in 13 municipalities, and they are: tailor, auto mechanic, metal worker, wood worker, heating and air conditioning installer, electrician, wholesaler and retailer, beautician.

Rozeta Hajdari, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, highlighted that the food and beverage sector is the biggest contributor to jobs during her speech. She emphasized that this sector employs nearly 12,000 people. Meanwhile, together with the entrepreneurs, the minister said that we will identify the necessary profiles for the food and beverage sector.

The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, speaking about dual education, said that we are aiming to work together and ensure that dual education is successful for students, the economy and society.
