Islamic Development Bank will continue its support for Kosovo

Within the frames of his agenda in Saudi Arabia, Kosovo’s Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Behgjet Pacolli, met with the Director of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Ahmed Muhamed Ali.

The Director of IsDB pledged that the institution he represents will contribute in financing various capital projects of Kosovo. He promised that this institution will contribute by setting up projects for the highway connecting Prishtina and Mitrovica, projects for irrigation system and those pertaining to Prishtina University Clinical Centre. Kosovo is waiting to utilize a fund of 27 million dollars that is part of a fund designated for Kosovo by IsDB immediately after the war. The director of this bank pledged that this fund will be allocated very soon. 

Regardless of the fact that Kosovo is not a member of the IsDB, this banking institution will continue to support it, stressed Ahmed Muhamed Ali.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Thaçi thanked IsDB Director for the support and assistance provided to Kosovo and expressed the readiness to intensify the cooperation with this bank and the possibility of obtaining long-term soft loans.

Islamic Development Bank has 56 member states. The main goal of the bank is granting loans and grants for various projects that would provide for economic and social development.
