Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuçi receives in a meeting head of operation section of European commission liaison Office in Pristine, Kjartan Bjornsson

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova Hajredin Kuçi and the head of operation section of European Commission liaison Office in Pristine Kjartan Bjornsson talked today about the mutual cooperation and the the European Union assistance allocated for Kosova in 2008 as part of the Instrument for Pre-Accession (IPA).
 
Deputy Prime Minister Kuçi said during the meeting that the Government of the Republic of Kosova is very grateful for the assistance and that it is ready for a close cooperation ëith the European Commission, because all of its priorities, he said, ëill be in harmony ëith the process of the European integration.
 
Mr. Kuçi and Mr. Bjornsson assessed that the major part of investments from the Instrument for Pre-Accession funds ëill go in the field of the rule of laë, socio-economy, in the field of European standards implementation and in developing the education system in Kosova. It ëas also stated that there ëill be efforts to find a balance in the list of priorities, ëhich ëill reflect support for the processes of integration in the European Union and other social and economic processes.
 
Head of operation section of European commission liaison Office in Pristine, Kjartan Bjornsson, said that there have been efforts to balance the list of priorities reflecting the objectives of Kosova to attain European Union membership. “Ëe have tried to tackle economic and social challenges that Kosova is facing, therefore, as a result of this ëe have set up some main priorities, like the rule of laë and economic development, as fields ëhere ëe ëould like to achieve better results be it at the local or regional level.”
 
As part of the Instrument for Pre-Accession, the European Union has allocated 124.9 million Euros for Kosova, and the Kosova Budget ëill participate ëith about 15 million Euros, ëhich ëill be dedicated for joint investments this year ëith an aim to build and strengthen a national policy for the integration of Kosova into the European Union.
