Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri met today the Ambassador Johannes Eigner, Head of Department for EU Enlargement in Austrian MFA

Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Ms. Edita Tahiri met today Mr. Johannes Eigner, Ambassador and Head of Department for European Union Enlargement under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria.

Initially, Ms. Tahiri thanked the Austrian Ambassador for the continuous support that he is providing to Kosovo on diplomatic field, economic development, education, etc. Both interlocutors expressed their satisfaction regarding the good relationships between these two countries as they expressed their commitment that these relationships be empowered even more in the future.

Ambassador Eigner stressed that the Austrian state will continue to support the full integration of Kosovo in EU, NATO, UN, as well as in other international institutions. In addition, Austria will continue its support and lobby to grow the number of international recognitions of Kosovo independence.

In conclusion, both interlocutors agreed that European reforms undertaken by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo are acknowledged as important steps in its road towards EU. Kosovo has also proven its seriousness and commitment  in promoting regional cooperation, good neighborly relations and safeguarding peace and security . The commencement of feasibility study and the recent decision on roadmap for visa liberalization are initial official steps that provide Kosovo a clear road in becoming an EU member.
