Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri meets Ambassador of Republic of Turkey to Republic of Kosovo Mrs Songül Ozan

Mrs. Songül Ozan first congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri on her new responsibility as deputy prime minister in charge of foreign affairs and national security policy to lead the delegation of the Republic of Kosovo in the technical dialogue with Serbia. She said that these are quite significant responsibilities and wished Mrs. Tahiri a successful accomplishment of these tasks. 

Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri thanked Mrs. Songül Ozan for her visit and thanked the Republic of Turkey for the continuous support they are giving the Republic of Kosovo. In the meeting, Mrs. Tahiri spoke in favor of further advancing the cooperation between the two states, with a special focus on the field of foreign affairs and security policy. 

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri and Ambassador Ozan also spoke about the ongoing technical dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia. 

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri, in her capacity as head of the Kosovo delegation, said that this technical dialogue will exclusively focus on practical matters that will contribute to improving of the lives of citizens and added that this technical dialogue will be in the service of good neighborhood, regional cooperation and will facilitate the Euro-Atlantic perspective of the Republic of Kosovo. 

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri also said that in this technical dialogue there will be no discussions whatsoever about the independence of Kosovo, and its sovereignty, territorial integrity, its wholeness and internal regulation. “Solutions will be provided to problems of practical nature foreseen by the Ahtisaari plan which is part of the Constitution of the independent state of Kosovo,” said Mrs. Edita Tahiri. 

Ambassador Ozan said that the Turkish state supports this dialogue on technical issues and expressed its readiness to be actively involved in it, as it considers this dialogue as an opportunity towards improving peace and neighborly relations in the Balkans. She went on to say that for the Republic of Turkey, the independence, the territorial integrity and internal regulation of the Republic of Kosovo are fait accompli.
