Minister for dialogue Edita Tahiri, regarding the latest developments in Kosovo associated also with the dialogue in Brussels has given this statement to the media:
Negative developments recently promoted by Serbia in Kosovo have caused impacts to delays in implementation of the agreements, in particular the opening of the bridge over the Iber that after revitalization that was done had to be opened today on 20 January 2017, but negative developments and tensions have prompted that the European Union, which has been authorized to make the opening, as did the revitalization, as was removed the barricade from the bridge of Iber, has postponed the inauguration for the above mentioned reasons.
Also, the agreement for justice, which should have been implemented on 10 January 2017, is being delayed because of these developments. Please note that all preparations for the start of implementation of the agreement for justice are made by Kosovo and the implementation has been made possible according to the date stipulated, however, this process of delays should be seen in the context of the recent tensions.
Minister Edita Tahiri, further said that in recent weeks, Serbia has made successive provocations aimed at destabilizing the situation in Kosovo and the region and provocations have also been of dramatic proportions that constitute a threat to regional peace and stability.
These obstacles of Serbia include: the case of _ train, which was banned by the state of Kosovo, before we had provocation with illegal wall which will be removed under the laws of Kosovo and the Kosovo Assembly Resolution. Bomb attack against the extension of the state of Kosovo institutions in northern municipalities, on the occasion of their inauguration by Dialogue Ministry on 28 December 2016, and arrest warrants against fighters of the KLA, on this occasion Mr. Ramush Haradinaj.
European Union as a mediator of the dialogue process, is making maximum efforts to remove tensions and give way to continuing the implementation of these agreements and public effort will be notified continuously, so as soon as possible to normalize the process of dialogue and the implementation of agreements.
Brussels dialogue is of great importance because it is enabling the extension of sovereignty in the north of the country, dissolution of parallel structures of Serbia in Kosovo, the integration of the Serb minority in the state system of Kosovo, but even more than that, the Brussels dialogue contributed and is contributing to Kosovo’s integration into the European Union and as evidence of this is the Stabilization and Association Agreement that actually enables Kosovo to enter the official path of European integration and for which voted five non-recognizing states because Kosovo proved that is a state with Euro Atlantic vision and promoter of peace and good neighbourliness in the region.
