Today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Italy, Emma Bonino.
In the meeting, they talked about current political developments in Kosovo and the region, about cooperation between Kosovo and Italy and the implementation of the agreement on normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi summarized Kosovo’s achievements over the 5 year period after the declaration of independence, focusing on the process of consolidating democratic institutions, strengthening rule of law and order, economic development and the process of international recognition.
The Prime Minister expressed the determination of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to implement reforms in politics, legislation and the economy, in order to fully meet the European integration agenda.
In the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Emma Bonino, the Prime Minister praised highly the inter-state cooperation between Kosovo and Italy, and expressed the readiness of the Kosovo Government to deepen this cooperation in all areas of shared interest.
In today’s meeting between Prime Minister Thaçi and Minister Bonino they discussed the importance of implementing the agreement on normalization of inter-state relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
Prime Minister Thaçi re-emphasized the will of the Kosovar institutions to start implementing this agreement immediately, so that opportunities for economic development and the functioning of legitimate institutions are created in that part of Kosovo’s territory.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Emma Bonino praised highly the commitment of Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi and of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to implementing the agreement on normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia. This is an important and historic step that is in the interest of strengthening peace, stability and regional cooperation.
Kosovo’s perspective is a European perspective and to this end, Italy will continue its support for Kosovo’s European integration, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, in the meeting held today with Prime Minister Thaçi.
