Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi met with a delegation of the State of Iowa, headed by the State Governor, Terry Branstad. The key topics of the meeting were the current political developments in Kosovo and the region, as well as the deepening of cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the state of Iowa.
The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction of meeting again with the Governor of the State of Iowa, Terry Branstad, whom he met during his visit some time ago in the United States of America. In this event, the Prime Minister once again thanked Mr. Branstad for the institutional hospitality towards the delegation of the Republic of Kosovo during their visit to the State of Iowa.
Kosovo is a fortunate country to have, among others, a friend like the United States of America, Prime Minister said, as he praised the contribution of the State of Iowa for Kosovo, in particular by supporting the Kosovo Security Force.
The partnership between Kosovo and the state of Iowa, is and will continue to be a good example of lasting relationships that Kosovo has established with the United States of America – stated Prime Minister Thaçi.
The Prime Minister thanked Mr. Branstad for signing a twinning partnership agreement for the state of Iowa and Kosovo.
This step, apart from establishing state partnership between the Kosovo Security Force and National Guard of Iowa, it will also pave the way to deepen our cooperation in the development of other sectors such as in education, agriculture, trade, economic development, emphasized Prime Minister Thaçi .
During today’s meeting, the Prime Minister briefed governor Branstad on the achievements of the state of Kosovo.
The Republic of Kosovo has entered its sixth year of its statehood with consolidated democratic institutions, comprehensive reforms that have been developed and continue to develop in politics, economy and legislation, and we are fully committed to political and institutional strengthening of the rule of law throughout the territory of Kosovo, stressed the Prime Minister.
Through the reforms that have been undertaken and are continuing to be taken, Kosovo has made significant progress in the economy, thus creating a favourable climate for international investments, said Prime Minister Thaçi.
Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi reiterated his and the Government of Kosovo’s invitation to all U.S. companies, especially those from the state of Iowa, that they come and invest in Kosovo. These investments will be guaranteed by the state of Kosovo, said Prime Minister’s meeting with the Governor of Iowa, Terry Branstad.
On his part, Governor of the State of Iowa, Terry Branstad reassured the Prime Minister that the state of Iowa will continue to support the government and the people of Kosovo in the future.
During the meeting with the Prime Minister, governor Branstad expressed the readiness and willingness of institutions to Iowa State to deepen the cooperation with institutions in all areas of common interest.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi was accompanied by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Bajram Rexhepi, Minister of Security Forces, Agim Ceku, Minister of Economic Development, Fadil Ismaili, Minister of Health, Ferid Agani, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Blerand Stavileci, KSF Commander, Kadri Kastrati, and Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the United States, Akan Ismaili.
