The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, congratulated the head of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, the Imam Naim Tërnava and the Islamic faithful in Kosovo on the festival of Eid.
The message stated:
Honorable Mr. Tërnava,
Honorable citizens of Kosovo of the Islamic faith,
It is an honor and pleasure on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and in my own name, to congratulate you on the festival of Eid al-Fitr, that we call “Bajrami i Madh”.
Eid al-Fitr follows a month of fasting, in which the faithful test the depth of their faith and their physical and spiritual discipline, fulfilling an important religious obligation in the Islamic faith.
We offer best wishes to all Islamic faithful, sure in the knowledge that they will pass these days of the festival in happiness with their families, relations and community.
Our Islamic citizens are distinguished for their cultivation of human values, wisdom, peaceful spirit, tolerance and respect for different faiths.
We hope that this spirit of understanding and nourishment of values that unite us will continue and deepen among us, making Kosovo a country of peace, progress and harmony between people of different ethnic and religious identities.
Kosovo will continue to be a country oriented toward a Euro-Atlantic future, a free and democratic state, intensifying further respect for religious and cultural freedoms for all its citizens.
