The congratulatory message from the Prime Minister stated:
Dear citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,
June 12, Peace Day, is a historic day marking the successful completion of the liberation war and at the same time, the opening of a new chapter of peace, 14 years ago.
On this day, which is commemorated by the state and people of Kosovo with piety and great pride, we remember the war and sacrifice of all martyrs of freedom, our heroes, the optimism, hope and resistance of all Kosovo’s citizens, who contributed in different ways to the resistance leading to Peace Day, the Day of Kosovo’s Liberation.
The Kosovo Liberation Army war was a just and honorable war, with popular support and that of the NATO alliance.
Today, with full civic and state honors, we express our appreciation and special and deep thanks to all the fighters and commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who fought to liberate Kosovo.
On Peace Day, Kosovo enters its sixth year of Independence, with consolidated democratic institutions, institutions committed to strengthening the rule of law, determined to implement comprehensive reforms regarding sustainable economic development, and increasing social welfare of citizens, all of which are in the interest of fulfilling Kosovo’s European agenda.
On this important anniversary, the institutions and people of the Republic of Kosovo express their deep thanks for the NATO bombardment, the most successful military humanitarian intervention at the end of the twentieth century.
The Republic of Kosovo, an independent and sovereign state, is playing an important role in creating peace and stability in the region. The Agreement on normalizing inter-state relations between the Republic of Kosovo and of Serbia marks a historic step toward the Europeanization of the region. Without ever forgetting the past, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo is determined to build a prosperous future for the independent country of Kosovo, as part of the European and Euro-Atlantic processes.
Fourteen years since the Day of Freedom, the Day of Peace, the Republic of Kosovo is even more secure and closer to fulfill the criteria for membership in Euro-Atlantic institutions, in the European Union, NATO and the UN.
