The Government of the Republic of Kosovo holds its 143 regular meeting

Today, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, chaired by Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, held its regular meeting, in which it approved regulations, strategies and decisions within its constitutional and legal area of jurisdiction.

In his speech, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi praised the preparation process for local elections on November 3. The Prime Minister emphasized the Kosovo Government’s commitment to fulfilling all obligations deriving from this process. The Prime Minister expressed his great appreciation for the commitment of the political spectrum to electoral preparations, as well as the Central Election Commission and other institutions for progress made.

The Prime Minister repeated his call for mass turnout by all Kosovo citizens in the elections and he said that Kosovo has been one of the best examples in the region for the organization and development of the electoral process.

In his speech, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi emphasized the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to meeting all obligations with regard to the transition of international mechanisms and institutions in Kosovo and the European integration process.

The first Decision in today’s Government meeting was the approval of a Regulation on the Integration of Repatriated Persons and the Management of the Reintegration Program. The goal of this regulation is to assist and support the sustainable reintegration of repatriated persons in Kosovo. This regulation also aims to support the Strategy for the Reintegration of Repatriated Persons, approved by the Government. It defines the competent decision-making, executive and coordinative bodies, the procedures and criteria for benefits and assistance for reintegration.

In today’s meeting, the government cabinet approved a Decision on expropriation in the public interest of immoveable property of owners and stakeholders, which are affected by the building of a broadcasting distribution network and associated infrastructure in 22 locations, for the needs of state security institutions in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. The Decision of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo is based on the request of the Security Council made to the Department of Expropriation within the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning.

The process of expropriation, by decision of the Kosovo Government in today’s meeting, will also affect immoveable property of owners and stakeholders affected by the building of an electricity transmission network, for the purpose of providing a good supply of electricity to residents of Gjakova.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo approved a Decision to start negotiations for an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of Qatar to regulate the employment of Kosovar citizens as part of the labor force in Qatar. The Government authorized the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare to start these negotiations.

For the purpose of making incentive payments related to the performance of health professionals who are currently doing self-financed specialist training, the Government approved a Decision to transfer funds from other categories to the program “Doctors in the country”. The value of funds transferred is 851,862.74 Euros.

Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri informed the government cabinet about the dialogue process in Brussels and the implementation of the agreement on normalization with Serbia, with regard to Integrated Border Management, security and elections. Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri emphasized that progress has been made and work is being done to implement the agreements reached.

The Minister of the Security Force, Agim Çeku, informed the cabinet about a visit occurring in the United Kingdom and high level meetings being held with officials of this friendly country to Kosovo. Minister Çeku emphasized that the United Kingdom’s support for Kosovo and the Kosovo Security Force had been stressed in the meetings.
