The central theme of the meeting was the return of persons displaced during the Kosovo war, who are still in Montenegro.

“We agreed together that our work will not stop and we have identified joint conclusions: We will create a protocol of cooperation, in which we identify the demand and the potential for return, as well as a joint approach to creating the conditions for the return of those who have declared themselves ready and interested,” said Mr. Manaj.

Deputy Prime Minister Manaj stated, “There are 360 individuals and 83 families who have requested to return. The most recent statistics suggest that the number of those ready to return is now 1,300 and naturally, this number is going to increase and we will cooperate to create the conditions for building premises and residential areas, to support a normal livelihood. This process will continue.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Suad Numanovic, emphasized that the meeting focused on discussing, with the representatives of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, regarding the issue of returning Kosovar refugees, who have been in Montenegro since the war.

“We agreed that there will be a dynamic process of returning over 16,000 refugees, which are believed to be from Kosovo,” said Mr. Numanovic. In addition, Mr. Numanovic emphasized the readiness of the two governments to conclude this process with success and requested the assistance of international organizations for this repatriation.
