After meeting with the famous Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, responded to media interest on the cancellation of the visit by the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Fatmir Sejdiu, to the Republic of Macedonia.
The following is the statement of Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi.
This was the best possible decision, a just decision made by the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Fatmir Sejdiu. It is a decision of Kosovo’s institutions, and as such, it has my full support and that of the will of the people of Kosovo. Skopje must distance itself from the influence of Belgrade’s erroneous policies regarding Kosovo.
We are investing in very good relations as two independent, sovereign and democratic states with a secure Euro-Atlantic future for both Kosovo and Macedonia. However, Kosovo has its dignity and pride, and it is an independent state which makes its own decisions. We will continue to work towards good cooperation with Macedonia, as we have had up until now.
