Prime Minister Thaçi presents vision of Government of Kosova on future of our country to EU Foreign Ministers

In the premises of the Congress Center in Brdo, Slovenia, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Mr. Hashim Thaçi, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Hajredin Kuçi, had several special meetings with many diplomats and EU foreign ministers.
Initially, Prime Minister Thaçi met with the Slovenian Foreign Minister, the European Union Chairman-in-Office, Dimitrij Rupel, then with the EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, the Enlargement Commissioner, Olli Rehn, and the head of the European Commission, Barroso.
During the day, Prime Minister Thaçi also had meetings with the British Foreign Minister, David Miliband, French Foreign Minister, Bernard Kouchner, Swedish FM, Karl Bildt, Albanian FM Lulëzim Basha, Macedonian, Antonio Milosovski and other foreign ministers of different European countries.
The developments in Kosova following the declaration of independence and the EU relations with Russia were on the focus of the informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU and the Western Balkan countries aspiring membership in the European Union and NATO structures.
In his address, that was received with high interest by the foreign minister of the EU and Balkan countries, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Mr. Hashim Thaçi, briefed the participants on the current developments in our country following the declaration of independence and the recognition of Kosova as an independent and sovereign state.
“The institutions of the newest country in Europe and the world are showing strong commitment in respecting rule of law, in fighting crime and corruption in the country, and in creating opportunities for all the people without discrimination to make their dreams come true in accordance with the highest European standards,” said Mr. Thaçi.
Prime Minister Thaçi stressed the efforts of the Government he is leading to empower the legitimate institutions and the rule of law and democratic order throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosova. He expressed the willingness to cooperate with all the regional countries: Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and Serbia.
The Kosovar Prime Minister called on the Serb community to accept the new reality, and not think about isolation, but on the contrary think about integration in the institutional life of the state of Kosova. Mr. Thaçi underscored that the people of Kosova and the international community are against any effort whatsoever for the division of Kosova. He asked for a bigger support by the international community with regards to economic rejuvenation, creation of job opportunities for the Kosova youth and for better prosperity in all walks of life, as a precondition for integration in the European Union structures.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the European Union foreign ministers support the vision of the Government of Kosova for the future of our country, our efforts to establish rule of law and justice throughout the territory of Kosova and that they strongly oppose to Belgrade’s plan for the division of Kosova and the destabilization of the region.
