Prime Minister Thaçi meets the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton

In the context of diplomatic activity in the US, the Kosovo delegation, comprising the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, and Behxhet Pacolli were received by the US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton.

Secretary Clinton congratulated the Kosovo delegation for their continual efforts to build and consolidate democracy in the state of Kosovo. She encouraged Kosovo’s leaders in their diplomatic activity, which she said was extremely effective.

The US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton said that the US strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo and the extension of Kosovo’s authority in its entire territory. The US Secretary of State said that cooperation between the European Union and its mission in Kosovo for law and order is of great importance and marks a positive development and she encouraged Kosovo’s authorities to continue working closely with this mission. She said that close relations with the European Union are important.

Mrs. Clinton said that the US will continue to be committed to helping Kosovo on its path toward European integration.

The US Secretary of State said that dialogue with Serbia is the only road forward and welcomed Kosovo’s commitment to this process. She said that the US is continuing to encourage other states to recognize Kosovo’s independence.

The US Secretary of State encouraged the deepening of internal reforms in Kosovo and gave support to Kosovo’s leaders in the war against corruption and organized crime.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Thaçi and President Jahjaga thanked Secretary Clinton for the United States’ continual support and contribution to the process of state-building in Kosovo and further international consolidation of the state of Kosovo.
