Prime Minister Thaçi meets M. Pierre Mirel, Western Balkans Director in the Directorate-General for Enlargement in the European Commission

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Mr Hashim Thaçi, today met Monsieur Pierre Mirel, Western Balkans Director in the Directorate-General for Enlargement in the European Commission.
 
During the meeting Prime Minister Thaçi informed M. Mirel about Kosovo’s commitment and progress, and about the reforms that are being made in the fields of economy and politics, as well as in legislation and other activities related to conformity with European standards.
 
“The principal agenda of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo – in line with the wishes of the citizens of Kosovo – is that for integration with Euro-Atlantic structures, with NATO and with the European Union,” Prime Minister Thaçi stated, adding that Kosovo is a country with equal opportunities, with a multi-ethnic society and with a concern for broad prosperity, peace and stability in the region.
 
Mr Thaçi also informed M. Mirel about the Government of Kosovo’s preparations for the Donors’ Conference. The Prime Minister expressed his expectation that Kosovo will receive support from the international community in a way that allows their shared commitment to result in better living standards for all of Kosovo’s citizens.
 
M. Pierre Mirel meanwhile said that the European Council Assembly in Brussels had confirmed that European integration was the future for the countries of the Western Balkans, and he expressed his satisfaction at the Prime Minister’s emphasis that EU integration was at the top of the Government’s agenda. M. Mirel confirmed that the Donors’ Conference for Kosovo had finally been set for 11th July in Brussels.
