Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi met today with Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg of Germany and they discussed overall developments in Kosovo, bilateral cooperation and Kosovo’s perspective for European integration.
The Prime Minister thanked the German Defense Minister and expressed his gratitude for Germany and the people of Germany for their help and support for Kosovo. The Prime Minister specifically mentioned German support on Kosovo’s democratization, the building of a multi-ethnic society in Kosovo and the establishment of the Kosovo Security Force.
Prime Minister Thaçi also mentioned that Kosovo’s success is tangible, that Kosovo has built good relations with all the countries in the region, and that there is also goodwill to cooperate with Serbia on issues of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister briefed the Defense Minister of Germany on ongoing justice reforms, which he mentioned as being carried out in close cooperation with EULEX and ICO. Prime Minister Thaçi also pointed out the good cooperation that Kosovo has with KFOR.
Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg acknowledged Kosovo’s progress, especially in terms of security. He pointed out that the downsizing of KFOR troops in Kosovo is a natural outcome of the improved security situation. The German Defense Minister promised that his country is willing to continue to support the KSF.
