Prime Minister Thaçi meets Baroness Ashton and Prime Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, met today with Baroness Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. 

Prime Minister Thaçi pointed out during the meeting the importance of advancing the European integration agenda of the Republic of Kosovo. Prime Minister Thaçi reiterated that Kosovo is committed to accomplish all the requirements and duties deriving from the process, including normalization of interstate relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia as two independent states as part of good neighborly relations in line with the European standards. 

While in Brussels, following the meeting with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Baroness Catherine Ashton, Prime Minister Thaçi had a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dacic. The meeting between Prime Minister Thaçi and Prime Minister Dacic was mediated by Baroness Ashton who also participated in the meeting. 

The meeting took place in an attempt to continue the EU-facilitated dialogue. All the participating parties agreed and expressed their commitment to the continuation of the dialogue on normalization of relations between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia. 

The meeting between Prime Minister Thaçi and Prime Minister Dacic mediated by Baroness Ashton is a new chapter for the normalization of relations between two sovereign states. On the occasion, Prime Minister Thaçi said that this “process will definitely lead to acceleration of integration of both states towards the EU and will be in the service of peace and stability in the region.”
