Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi is received by the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Marin Raykov, and the President of Bulgaria, Rossen Plevneleiev

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi began his official visit to Bulgaria with the meeting held today with his counterpart in Sofia, Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Marin Raykova, and was also received by Bulgarian President, Rossen Plevneleiev.

During the today’s meeting, Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi and Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Raykov have highly appreciated the level of relations between the two countries and discussed the on furthering these relations in the political, as well as in the economic sphere.

Prime Minister Thaçi thanked the Prime Minister Raykov for all the assistance that Bulgarian state institutions have provided to the Republic of Kosovo in all stages of its development, and expressed the willingness of institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to continue the positive contribution for the development of regional cooperation.

During the meeting with the Prime Minister Thaçi, Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Marin Raykov has expressed the readiness to continue the support of the Republic of Bulgaria to the developments in Republic of Kosovo, especially on supporting the European integration process, as well as providing the Bulgarian assistance in terms of advancing this process further.

Prime Minister Raykov welcomed the agreement to normalize relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia, and has highly regarded the contribution of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo in this process.

In this context, both Prime Ministers concurred that in the near future they would sign a memorandum of cooperation in terms of support to be provided in the frames of European integration process.

“The European Union supports the European perspective of Kosovo. We expect the five EU countries will soon recognize Kosovo’s independence. These countries have endorsed and supported the Ahtisaari plan, which was announced on the independence of Kosovo. Therefore, we expect these countries to move more quickly toward the recognition of Kosovo, because they have no reason to prolong this process. These countries are strong supporters of our European agenda. Kosovo is moving quickly towards the European Union. Communities are being respected in Kosovo. Their rights are guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of Kosovo. Kosovo is undertaking reforms in the economy, health, education and in all areas “stated the Prime Minister after the meeting.

On the other hand, after meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Marin Raykov said that Bulgaria will strongly support Kosovo’s European integration path.

Mr. Rajkov said that he had discussed with the Prime Minister about fostering intergovernmental cooperation in all areas that are of interest to both countries.

“We will strongly support Kosovo on its European path. We also hope that in June, Kosovo will sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement, which will pave the way for Kosovo’s integration in the European Union. We agreed to sign a cooperation agreement, whose aim is to support Kosovo’s European agenda “said Mr. Rajkov.

Speaking about the agreement reached in Brussels between Kosovo and Serbia, the Bulgarian Prime Minister Marin Raykov said that this agreement secures the European future of both countries.

“The agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia, provides to both countries a clear and secure path towards the European Union. This agreement is important for peace and stability, and not only in Kosovo, but in the region also” stated the Bulgarian Prime Minister Marin Raykov, after meeting with Prime Minister Thaçi.

Today, Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi was hosted in a special meeting by the President of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev.

The two interlocutors have highly regarded the relations between Bulgaria and Kosovo and expressed the readiness to deepen the relationship in areas of mutual interest.

During the meeting with the President of Bulgaria, Plavneliev, Prime Minister Thaçi has been promised of Bulgaria’s strong support for Kosovo in the field of European integration.
