Prime Minister meets with former UNMIK SRSG Soren Jessen-Petersen

Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi has met with former UNMIK Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) Soren Jessen-Petersen. The Prime Minister and Mr. Jessen-Petersen discussed current political developments in Kosovo and Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic perspective.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted Kosovo’s achievements since the declaration of independence, stressing the commitment of the Government and all institutions to deepen political, economic and legislative reforms.

The Prime Minister stressed the vision of the Government for the sustainable economic development of Kosovo. In this regard, he mentioned the groundbreaking of the Morine-Vermice-Merdare highway, the concession of Prishtina International Airport, the privatization of the Kosovo Post and Telecom, the building of the Kosova e Re power plant and other strategic projects.

The international recognition process was also discussed during the meeting. The Prime Minister praised Kosovo’s diplomacy and the engagement of all international friends towards increasing the number of countries that recognize Kosovo, noting that this number will continue to grow, particularly as a result of the country’s successful development.

Mr. Soren Jessen-Petersen expressed his sincerest congratulations to Prime Minister Thaçi for all of the successes of the Government of Kosovo during the past two years of statehood.

The former UNMIK SRSG also stated that Kosovo is a success story and that, following Kosovo’s membership into the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, the country will soon be part of other important international institutions. He said, “Kosovo’s perspective is a Euro-Atlantic perspective and, towards this end, your country will have the full support of all international friends.”
