Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi receives Ahmed Fahmy Ahmed, Speaker of the Upper House of Egypt

Today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received in a meeting Ahmed Fahmy Ahmed, the Speaker of Egypt’s’ Shura Council (Upper House – Consultative Council), who was leading a broad parliamentary delegation visiting Kosovo for a few days.

Prime Minister Thaçi informed the Egyptian delegation about current developments in Kosovo and the commitment of the country’s institutions to strengthening and consolidating Kosovo’s statehood.

“Kosovo is a new state, a state of great potential, a state that is consolidating and strengthening each day,” said Prime Minister Thaçi.

Commenting on relations between Kosovo and Egypt, Prime Minister Thaçi added that he anticipates that Egypt will recognize Kosovo very soon.

“Today, Egypt is different. I congratulate you on the democratic changes you have made. This is good news for Kosovars as well as the entire democratic world. And, now we are anticipating recognition of the state of Kosovo by Egypt. We believe that this recognition will bring other new recognitions,” said the Prime Minister.

Mr. Ahmed Fahmy Ahmed said that the people of Egypt support Kosovo and that recognition of Kosovo will take place in the near future.

“The issue of recognizing Kosovo is on the agenda. We will work hard so that this occurs as quickly as possible. Kosovo deserves independence based on its historic past,” he said.
