Today, the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, met with the Minister Delegate of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of Luxembourg, Mr. Nicolas Schmit, with whom he discussed cooperation between Kosovo and Luxembourg and developments in the region.
Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi expressed his thanks to Luxembourg for the continual support it has offered Kosovo.
“Luxembourg is one of the first countries which recognized Kosovo as an independent, sovereign and democratic state and in the name of the institutions and people of Kosovo, I want to express the most sincere thanks to the Minister and the authorities in Luxembourg,” said Prime Minister Thaçi.
Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi praised the active role that Luxembourg is playing in Kosovo by participating within KFOR, and also by financial support, with a promise at the Donors’ Conference of up to 25.5 million in support of education, health, and agricultural sectors and other areas of economic development in Kosovo.
During the meeting, the role of the Kosovar Diaspora in Luxemburg was also discussed, as was Kosovo’s secure future in NATO and the European Union, which is a common European future and one of economic development.
The Minister Delegate of Foreign Affairs and Immigration in Luxembourg stated that Luxembourg’s support for Kosovo will continue in the building of a common future in the European Union.
Minister Schmit also expressed Luxembourg’s commitment to building a democratic society in Kosovo which will contribute to the stability of the region and subsequently to the stability of Europe.
