Meeting held to review next steps for exhibition of photographs of missing persons

September 25, 2013

Prishtina, 25 September 2013

Today, a meeting was held between representatives of families’ associations for missing persons and the Municipality of Prishtina, chaired by the President of the Government Committee on Missing Persons.

In the meeting, they talked about the next steps relating to the exhibition of photographs of missing persons in the “Electronic Plaque” inaugurated during the observance of August 30 – International Missing Persons Day, which will replace the photographs that were hung on the fence surrounding the Republic of Kosovo Assembly.

Those present in the meeting agreed to ask relatives to bring information and photographs of persons identified as missing in the war, as well as the consent of each family for the use of the photographs, within one month and specifically by October 25, 2013.

The photographs will be submitted to the Government Committee on Missing Persons (GCMP) or to the Office of the Coordinating Council of Family Associations of the Missing in Kosovo (CCFAMK), through family associations for missing persons and/or municipal officers for missing persons.

In addition, those present asked the Municipality of Prishtina, in cooperation with the Government Committee and Families Associations, to examine the options for the eventual completion of the “Plaque for the Missing” with a symbol ‘in the form of an obelisk’ as well as the construction of a Central Memorial, dedicated to missing persons, considered one of the hardest hit categories in the most recent war in Kosovo.
