Government of Republic of Kosovo holds 128th regular meeting

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo held its regular 128th meeting in which it approved the Mid-term Expenditure Framework for the period of 2014-2016, a draft proposal for amending and supplementing the Strategic Documents Plan for 2013, draft regulation on the allocation of state awards for sportspeople reaching outstanding results in international competitions, draft regulation on permanent financial support for sportspeople who win medals in Olympic games, world championships and European championships and also approved a draft proposal for the transfer of the firefighters and rescue services to professional units from the municipalities to the Emergency Management Agency. 

The Mid-Term Expenditure Framework 2014-2016 has been prepared by the Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of European Integration in order to harmonize the Declaration of Government Priorities and coordinate donors’ assistance. In the process of the implementation of Government priorities special importance is dedicated to budget sustainability and macrofiscal projections for the mid-term period. 

The Government Cabinet also adopted during the meeting draft regulation on permanent financial support for the sportspeople who win medals in Olympic games, world and European championships. The regulation, apart from determining requirements for permanent financial support for former sportspeople and coaches –  citizens of the Republic of Kosovo who have won international medals, will also have a considerable impact on motivating our sportspeople to be active in sports and focus on participation and winning in international sport competitions. Wins and medals in international competitions are attributed to the Republic of Kosovo. 

The Cabinet also adopted the draft regulation on allocation of state awards for sportspeople who achieve outstanding results in international competitions which aims at helping opening the doors for the sports of the Republic of Kosovo to participate in international competitions and to present the skills and the level of our sportspeople in the world. 

In today’s meeting, the draft proposal on amending and supplementing the Strategic Documents Plan 2013 was also adopted, and the strategic documents plan of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for 2013 includes the following strategic documents:

–    Draft strategy on regulatory reform 2014-2020 (PMO)
–    Draft strategy on property rights (PMO), and 
–    Draft strategy on public private partnership (MF)

A government decision approved the transfer of the firefighters and rescue services to professional units from the municipalities to the Emergency Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including budget amendments.
