Pristina, 3 February, 2023

The Deputy Prime Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights, Emilija Redžepi, together with the leadership of the Kosovo Statistics Agency, held the first informational meeting for the future population census of the Republic of Kosovo, which was attended by representatives of all communities in our country.

Deputy Prime Minister Rexhepi, among other things, emphasized that all citizens of Kosovo living throughout the territory of our country, regardless of nationality and ethnicity, must respond to the population census so that our institutions have real and accurate data on the number of residents, to continue to support NGOs and the media, which will focus on the media campaign and providing information in all languages about the importance of registration.

The need to encourage the media and NGOs, with their maximum contribution both at the local and central level, was emphasized, especially in the municipalities where representatives of non-majority communities live. It was also said that all together – such as non-governmental organizations, such as political representatives – in cooperation with the Statistics Agency, should be committed to enumerators from all communities helping the process of access of all citizens to the population census.

It was emphasized that the population and housing census is a large statistical survey that aims to collect basic data on the territorial distribution and composition of the population.

It was also said that in the next phase, more such meetings and conferences will be held dedicated to the population census in our country, which is expected to take place in September of this year.
