Deputy Prime Minister Ramë Manaj held talks with the group of women who have gone on strike in the Prishtina Morgue and who are demanding that the fate of the girls who continue to be considered as missing persons be resolved as soon as possible.
Deputy Prime Minister Manaj voiced the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to finding a solution as soon as possible for identifying the approximately 400 mortal remains in the Prishtina Morgue.
As part of this, the Kosovar Government will call for a joint meeting, and ensure that it takes place between all relevant local and international agencies, experts in forensic medicine, and EULEX representatives; in order to achieve the identification of concrete actions in finding a solution regarding the mortal remains.
The Kosovar Government will follow the experts’ best recommendations in supporting a repeat DNA analysis by institutions in other countries that are recognized in this field; however, if an immediate solution is thought preferable; the Kosovar Government will work to secure a laboratory for the DNA analysis to be carried out in Kosovo.
The Kosovar Government voiced its commitment and gives a strong guarantee to the strikers that it will use its human and financial resources to find a solution for the approximately 400 mortal remains.
The strike ended today after the meeting held between Deputy Prime Minister Ramë Manaj and the strikers.
