Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ms. Edita Tahiri received today in a meeting Pieter Everaers, EUROSTAT Director and Chairperson of the International Monitoring Operation (IMO) of Census in Kosovo.

At the meeting, both parties highly appreciated the cooperation between the Government of Kosovo and the International Monitoring Operation of the census in Kosovo that was conducted in year 2011. They expressed mutual satisfaction on the successful conclusion of this project the results of which will be announced publicly tomorrow on September 21 during an international conference to be held in Prishtina.
 
Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri personally thanked Mr. Everaers, EUROSTAT and the International Monitoring Operation for the powerful support given to the census process in Kosovo and finalizing this project of national importance and performing it according to the highest international and European standards.
 
Mr. Everaers expressed his satisfaction for this close and constructive collaboration as he emphasized that the process of registering residents, family economies and households was implemented according to international and standards and IMO deems the results of the census and the entire professional engagement in implementing this project as positive.
 
Both interlocutors concurred that this was a good experience in the field of statistics in Kosovo. They emphasized that the official data regarding the number of citizens and the social and living conditions are an important factor for comprehensive analyses on the sustainable development of the new Kosovar state, and in particular in the field of economy, demography, science, etc.
