Following his meeting with the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, the European Deputy, Joost Lagendijk, held a working meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, Hajredin Kuçi, in which the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Skender Hyseni, also took part.
Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuçi expressed his thanks for the Resolution of the European Parliament for Kosovo and he informed the Deputy of the European Parliament about the Kosovar Government’s attempts to deepen commitments to the process of European integration and the implementation of the rule of law in the country.
Mr. Lagendijk expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation of the Kosovar Government with the international community, especially with ICO and EULEX, and he encouraged the Kosovar Government to continue this cooperation.
The privatization process and the measures being taken by the Government of Kosovo to encourage foreign investment in the country were also discussed in the meeting.
The process of decentralization, the representation of communities in the institutions of Kosovo and the process of return were issues on which the European Deputy expressed his full understanding with the Government of Kosovo.
Mr. Lagendijk was also interested in the Kosovo case at the International Court of Justice and new recognitions of the state of Kosovo.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Skender Hyseni informed the Brussels delegation about Kosovo’s position on this issue and the entire process in relation to the opinion of the International Court of Justice and he predicted new recognitions before and after the celebrations of the first year of Kosovo’s independence.
