Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri receives the Ambassador of Sweden, Lars Wahlund in a meeting

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri received in a meeting the non-resident Ambassador of Sweden in Kosovo, Mr. Lars Wahlund who was accompanied by Ms. Ingrid Johansson, the charges d’affaires in Prishtinë.

In this meeting, they discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields and they reconfirmed Sweden’s support for Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic perspective. The general progress toward the internal and external consolidation of the independent and sovereign state of Kosovo was praised. 

All the participants in the meeting agreed that good neighborly relations and regional cooperation are values that encourage stability and peace in the region, emphasizing that dialogue to normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia is in the interests of the European future of both countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri also confirmed that the Kosovo Government continues to believe in dialogue as the only way to resolve bilateral issues in the region and continues to be committed to this goal.

“The state of Kosovo has presented its position in this dialogue, respecting Kosovo’s laws and constitution, and Euro-Atlantic principles”, emphasized Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Wahlund said that Sweden strongly supports Euro-Atlantic integration for Kosovo and encourages it to continue the path of European reform. Also, he praised Kosovo’s constructive and visionary engagement in dialogue on normalization, expressing his trust that an agreement will be reached between both states, thus benefiting both countries and the entire region, as well as the European Union, which is the mediator of this process.
