Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo Ms Edita Tahiri received in a meeting today the UN delegation headed by Mr Danilo Rosales Diaz, Head of Team for UN Division for Europe and Latin America and Mr Akylbai Eleusizov, Head of Desk for Kosovo who were accompanied by Mr Jolyon Naegele, Director of the Office of Political Affairs at the United Nations Mission in Kosovo.
Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri initially spoke about general political developments in the country and the process of forming new institutions emerging from this year national elections. In this case, she stressed the priority commitments of the Government for the rule of law and economic development and ensuring prosperity for all citizens in the internal aspect, as well as the vision of Kosovo for Euro-Atlantic integration, EU, NATO, the UN and other relevant institutions.
Ms Tahiri stated that Kosovo is a serious partner in global and regional efforts for a more peaceful and secure world. Kosovo visionary policies are also proving our continuing contribution for peace and stability in the region and commitment for good neighbourly relations through the dialogue in Brussels.
Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri also spoke of collecting signatures for a petition that will be sought justice for raped women during the war in Kosovo and demanded increased commitments of the UN that this issue be addressed to the competent institutions and stressed that we are waiting for the confirmation of UN meeting in New York that the meeting take place as soon as possible so that the Board of Women can submit the petition in question.
UN delegation led by Mr Danilo Rosales Diaz praised the positive developments in Kosovo with particular emphasis spoke about the achievements of dialogue in Brussels and encouraged parties to increase commitments for its full implementation.
