Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri received in a meeting the representatives of the Coalition of Kosovo Pensioners

Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri received in a meeting the representatives of the Coalition of Kosovo Pensioners composed by Mr. Sahit Dragaj, President of Kosovo’s Pensioners Party, Mr. Hamdi Tasholi, Director of Kosovo’s Disabled Organization, Mr. Naser Avdiu, President of the Association of Kosovo Disabled and Pensioner Miners, and Prof. Dr. Sabri Kadriu, President of the Forum for Cross-Border Cooperation and Development.

During this meeting Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri and the delegation of Kosovo pensioners talked about the technical dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia placing a particular emphasis on the issue of the pension’s fund of Kosovo taken by Serbia during the war time.

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri informed the representatives of pensioners that the issue of returning the pension funds is incorporated within the overall platform of the Government for the technical dialogue. Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri also noted that the Government of Kosovo has officially filed before the EU the request to address this matter in the technical dialogue.

Practically, the issue of returning the pensions fund is one of the matters which needs to be discussed within the context of repairing war damages caused by Serbia during the war in Kosovo, stated Ms. Tahiri.

She also noted that when this issue will be in the agenda of the technical dialogue in the future, the Government will request the cooperation of the expertise from Kosovo’s Pensioners Coalition on this matter and will engage their representative in the rank of experts of the Government team to negotiate this particular issue.

From their part, the representatives of Kosovo Pensioners Coalition thanked Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri for the support and appreciated her work and that of the Kosovar delegation performed in terms of this stage of the technical dialogue.
