Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri was hosted today in the Mission of the United States of America in United Nations Organization by Deputy Ambassador of the Mission, Rosemary A. DiCarlo.
At this meeting, they discussed about deepening the cooperation between Kosovo and the USA, strengthening Kosovo’s international subjectivity, increasing the number of recognitions and Kosovo`s Euro-Atlantic integration.
Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri thanked the Ambassador DiCarlo for the unreserved support of U.S.A provided to Kosovo and for the personal commitments of Ms. DiCarlo, for quite some time now, in building and advancing the Republic of Kosovo.
Ms. Tahiri informed Ms. Di Carlo with the general political developments in Kosovo, regarding Kosovo’s achievements on the path toward NATO and the EU, especially with the decision of the Government of Kosovo for transforming KSF into Armed Force of Kosovo. In this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri thanked Ms. DiCarlo for the support provided by the American government for Kosovo to become part of the Partnership for Peace and in a near future a member of NATO.
Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri also emphasized that Kosova is focused on reforms with regard to the rule of law and economic development through the creation of a favourable investment environment. She also said that Brussels dialogue is a contribution to peace and stability in the region and fulfilment of the standards for good neighbourhood, to which Kosovo as an aspirant country to join the EU has shown seriousness and commitment. Also, Ms. Tahiri announced Kosovo’s initiative to petition for the issue of women raped during the war in Kosovo where she sought support from UN to focus on this issue according to resolution 2106 of the UN’s Security Council.
On her side, Ambassador DiCarlo reaffirmed the strong support of the U.S.A for Kosovo and expressed high appreciations for Kosovo’s achievements towards successful state building and achievements in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration. She said that U.S.A`s support in increasing the number of recognitions for Kosovo, as well as in the economic development and integration field, will continue. U.S.A are interested to make Kosovo a member of NATO, UN, EU and other international organizations, therefore USA will provide full support in this regard.
Ambassador DiCarlo has also added that the U.S.A appreciates the dialogue progress between Kosovo and Serbia and encourages both parties to fully implement the agreements of the dialogue. This process is assisting Kosovo’s internal state strengthening, improving neighbourly relations in the Balkans and is leading Kosovo closer to the EU, said Ambassador Di Carlo.
