Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri meets delegation from the Presheva Valley

Today, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri received a delegation from the Presheva Valley comprising the following, Mr. Riza Halimi – Deputy in the Parliament of Serbia, Mr. Shaip Kamberi – Leader of the Municipality of Bujanoc, Mr. Galip Beqiri – Leader of the National Albanian Council of the Valley, Mr. Rami Zulfia – Leader of the Albanian Democratic Union Party, Ms. Arbnora Ahmedi – Secretary of the National Council and Mr. Fehmi Beja – from the Party for Democratic Action.
 

In the meeting, the representatives of the Valley of Presheva presented the situation of Albanians from this area and their concerns regarding the fulfillment of their community rights according to international standards.
 

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri said that Kosovo will continually work to support the rights of Albanians outside Kosovo and agreed that cooperation between Kosovo and the Presheva Valley should be deep and enhance their prospects.
 

The delegation from the Presheva Valley emphasized that it is important that minorities in the Balkans enjoy equal rights and that there is a balanced approach to all minorities, and that there should not be occasions when one minority has greater rights than all others in the Balkans; so having an approach that contributes to the stability and the creation of a positive atmosphere and just treatment for all minorities.
 

With regard to their request that the issue of the rights of Albanians in the Presheva Valley be considered in the technical dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia, Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri said that this dialogue is technical and is not addressing political issues, so it is not possible for this issue to be added to the dialogue, and the Kosovo delegation at the dialogue is a government delegation and does not have ethnic representation in it.
