Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri in Turkey

On the invitation of the Mayor of Bajram Pasha of
Istanbul and of the association “Albanian brotherhood”, Deputy Prime Minister
of the Republic of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri, attended in the events celebrating
Kosovo’s fourth independence anniversary. Also present in these events was the
Minister of Public Administration Mahir Jagxhilar, Kosovo MP’s, Enis Kervan,
Myfera Shinik and Fikret Damka, Kosovo’s ambassador Bekim Sejdiu, Driton Lajqi,
advisor to Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuqi, and Murat Jashari,
representative of Jashari family.

During this visit, Ms. Tahiri was received by the
Mayor of Municipality of Bajram Pasha Mr. Atila Ajdiner where they discussed on
furthering the cooperation of this municipality with the municipalities of
Kosovo and for strengthening relations Kosovo-Turkey. On behalf of the
Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Ms. Tahiri thanked Turkey for all the
support they are providing in empowering the state of Kosovo. In particular she
thanked the Municipality of Bajram Pasha for placing the monument of the
legendary commander Adem Jashari in the park which bears the same name.

During her stay in Turkey she was also received by the
leadership of the association “Albanian Brotherhood” President Halil Meti,
Murat Lajqi and Qamil Bytyqi, whom she congratulated on the 60th
anniversary of the establishment of the association and thanked them for the
extraordinary contribution given by this society for Kosovo’s freedom and independence
and for strengthening relations between Kosovo and Turkey.

In the panel organized by the Municipality of Bajram
Pasha, Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri spoke of Kosovo’s achievements for the
state of Kosovo in the four-year period by noting the progress in democratic
state-building and the progresses in the Euro-Atlantic integrations. She
underscored that Kosovo is making secure steps in developing and strengthening
the independent and sovereign state of Kosovo, a state which was born out of
war and the centennial sacrifice of the Albanian nation. She stated to be
engaged that relations between Kosovo and Turkey would see further progress.

 

Afterwards, the Deputy Prime Minister attended in the
concert organized in honour of Kosovo’s independence. There she addressed to
the Albanian expatriates where among others, she said: “Even through you were
forced to abandon your Albanian lands and your homes because of the Serbian
oppression, you however, never forgot Kosovo and the Albanian lands and continue
to provide your support on empowering the Albanian nation”.

During her stay in Istanbul, Ms. Tahiri also attended independence
celebrations organized by the Kosovars’ Association to whom she addressed with
speech.
