The first Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, hosted the General Director for European Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Leonidas Rokanas, accompanied by the head of the Greek Liaison Office in Kosovo. mrs. Heleni Vakali.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi welcomed Ambassador Rokanas to Kosovo, who said that he was amazed by Kosovo’s natural resources and, as he defined it, “the European wind blowing in Kosovo”.
The parties talked about cooperation and friendship between Kosovo and Greece. Mr. Rokanas said that our countries should intensify work and engagement with each other. The final objective for Kosovo should be integration into the European Union, this perspective started in Thessaloniki in 2003 for Kosovo and all the countries of the Western Balkans, to walk together in harmony and comprehensively.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi added that the final goal of Kosovo is membership in the European Union, and the first step is already being taken, which is the application for membership. In the meantime, the country is moving forward at a fast pace in the advancement of the European agenda and alignment with the standards of the European Union, where the work done by the Government in the rule of law, the fight against corruption and organized crime, the democratization of many other areas is distinguished. “We are ready, through our commitment, to accelerate progress in these areas and consequently our journey towards the European Union”, said Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi.
It is important that our countries continue to cooperate with each other and expand the areas of interaction, especially in the social and cultural spheres, but also in facing common challenges such as the energy crisis and the transition to green energy. This close cooperation would contribute to the creation of bridges between our countries and people.
In conclusion, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi reiterated the commitment to the journey towards the European Union, the strong support of the citizens towards EU integration, the commitment of Kosovo and the importance of good neighborly relations.
