Announcement of the Government’s Commission on Missing Persons

At the meeting of the Government’s Commission on Missing Persons, led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri, were discussed the latest developments related to ‘Rudnica / Raska case’.

During the meeting, was decided that in order to respect legal procedures and the family member`s right to know the fate and whereabouts of their loved ones, the concerned families should be initially notified regarding the identification through DNA analysis of 16 persons that were identified from the mortal remains of the victims exhumed from the mass grave location in Rudnice, Raska.  In addition to the process of notifying the family members, the Government’s Commission of the Republic of Kosovo, through the Chairperson of the Working Group on Missing Persons, has proposed to the Serbian side the date of 26 August 2014, or any other date during next week, acceptable by both sides, as a possible date for initiating the repatriation process.

Today, Kosovo`s delegation within the Working Group on Missing Persons, received the notice for identification of 24 persons based mortal remains exhumed in Rudnice, including 18 new cases and 6 reunions.
