“The region is definitely full of the European spirit and Kosovo is being treated by everyone equally and there is an affirmative role for Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic future, which also has wider repercussions beyond Kosovo,” said among other things the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi at the opening of the meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo, chaired by Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, held its regular meeting in which acts and decisions were approved within its constitutional and legal competences.
At the opening of the meeting, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the institutions and people of Kosovo, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi congratulated the Croatian Government and people on joining the European Union.
“It is an extraordinarily important step not just for Croatia’s people and government, but for the entire region, reflecting on and encouraging all countries in the region to work harder and faster, so that we become part of the Euro-Atlantic family, faster and more substantively”, said Prime Minister Thaçi.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and all its institutions will work to the maximum to speed up the integration of the Republic of Kosovo. “The Agreement on Stabilization and Association definitively places Kosovo on a secure track to a European future, the same process as in all other countries in the region, it is a concrete step in this direction,” said Mr. Thaçi.
The Prime Minister expressed once again the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to continuing its commitment to the full implementation of the Agreement on normalizing relations between the states of Kosovo and of Serbia.
“Once again, I would like to thank all deputies of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, for their united support, the parties that supported the negotiation process, and the two thirds majority vote for ratifying the agreement between the states of Kosovo and of Serbia”, said Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi.
“Allow me once again on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Kosovo to congratulate Prime Minister Berisha, the Government of Albania, all political parties, and all citizens of Albania, on organizing elections according to the best standards up to now in Albania, and we join the democratic world in welcoming the organization of free, fair, democratic and transparent elections, and free competition. At the same time, it is a historic rotation and transition, with the momentous arrival of the winning opposition leader and future prime minister, Mr. Edi Rama” said Prime Minister Thaçi.
“The Government of the Republic of Kosovo will continue to cooperate closely and strongly with the new Prime Minister Mr. Rama and the future government of the Republic of Albania, just as it has worked excellently with the Berisha Government. Thus I encourage all ministers, in their fields and areas to intensify cooperation and continue projects that they are implementing, and to open up opportunities for even closer collaboration, to implement all projects and agendas for which we have been working, and to open up new perspectives”, said Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi in his opening speech at the meeting of the Kosovo Government.
In the rest of the meeting, the Kosovo Government adopted an Administrative Instruction defining cases of police officials who die on duty or doing their duty. This Instruction defines the manner of compensation and the treatment for police officials who suffer during the execution of their official duties.
In today’s meeting, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo adopted an Administrative Instruction to prevent and stop hazardous forms of child labor in Kosovo.
With the approval of a Concept Document for the preparation of a Draft Law supplementing and amending the Law on Tax Administration and Procedures, the path was opened to start the drafting of amendments to this Law.
The Government confirmed the decision of the Steering Committee for the Project to Develop Brezovica. In this regard, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo reiterated its complete support for the implementation of this project for the purpose of developing a mountain tourist center, which is a multi-purpose center and with activities throughout the year. The Inter-ministerial Steering Committee will work to ensure the legal and economic interests of the Social Enterprise “INEX”, during the development of the project and in accordance with the applicable laws. The Government has asked all ministries and government institutions to facilitate the implementation of this decision and other actions relating to the implementation of the Project to Develop the Tourist Center of Brezovica.
The amendment and supplementation of the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo was adopted with regard to taking on full responsibility for the Military Airport of Gjakova, on the occasion of its transfer from the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Italy to the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo discussed and approved the Annual Plan of the Statistics Agency for 2014 as well as the Annual Plan of the Statistics Agency for 2012.
In a decision adopted in today’s meeting by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Fidaim Sahiti was appointed to the position of chief executive of the Kosovo Geological Institute, within the Ministry of Economic Development.
The Government approved a decision for the acquisition of dividends from the public enterprise KOST, to a value of 3,000,000 Euro.
In today’s meeting, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo also allocated funds for the rehabilitation of invalids, veterans and relatives of KLA martyrs.
