Press Release – The team on the implementation of the agreements on cadastres inspected Kosovo cadastral documents in the Municipal centre of Krushevac, Serbia

In the context of the implementation of the agreement for the return of cadastral documents reached in the technical dialogue of September 2, 2011, the cadastral expert teams of the Republic of Kosovo, of Serbia and of the European Union stayed yesterday in the Municipal Centre in Krushevac of Serbia to see the state of the cadastral documents taken from Kosovo during the war in 1999 and also conducted the third meeting for the implementation of the agreement on returning the cadastral documents.

The cadastral expert team of the Republic of Kosovo has a first opportunity to see the current state of the cadastral documents of Kosovo on which event the cadastral documents of the Municipality of Prishtina, Prizren, Deçan, Gjakova, Zveçan and Suhareka were inspected as these were located in this municipal centre. Experts from the Kosovo Cadastral Agency and the Kosovo Property Agency concluded that this documentation was in a good state and ready to be scanned and certified by the EU.

Following this inspection there was a meeting conducted between the three parties of this agreement. The level of the preparation on implementing the agreement was appreciated at this meeting where the Serbian side announced on the commencement of the process of collecting all cadastral files into a sole centre in order to facilitate and expedite their scan process. The Serbian side also handed over to the Kosovar party the list of the cadastral documentation of the Municipality of Suhareka as an example of how all other municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo from whom the cadastral documents have been taken away. The Serbian side also handed over the specification prepared for the manner of scanning the cadastral documentation as well as the data dictionary to be utilized by their Republican Cadastral Office.

In the end parties agreed that the next meeting of the group in implementing this agreement shall take place in Prishtina during the month of February.

The composition of the team for the implementation of the agreement of the Republic of Kosovo was as follows: Gazmir Raci, from the office of the technical dialogue and team coordinator; from Kosovo Cadastral Agency, Qemajl Kadiri, M.E specialist, Hajzer Bublaku, legal specialist and Reshat Murati, GIS expert, and Enver Bajrami, responsible of the document verification unit, and Arben Canolli, cadastral expert, property identification unit from Kosovo Property Agency. 

Representatives of the EU at this meeting were also Mr. Thomas Busch from the office of the mediator of the technical dialogue Mr. Roper Cooper, and Mrs. Michelle Moran from the EUSR office in Kosovo.
