Kryeministri i Republikës së Kosovës, Albin Kurti, mori pjesë mbrëmë në festën e shënimit të Ditës Kombëtare të Irlandës, të organizuar nga Ambasada e Irlandës në Kosovë.
Në fjalën e tij të rastit, kryeministri shprehu krahas urimit për Ditën Kombëtare të Irlandës edhe atë për Ditën e Shën Patrikut, duke i cilësuar të dyja festat si një ditë që mishëron trashëgiminë e pasur, qëndrueshmërinë historike dhe shpirtin global të popullit irlandez. Rikujtoi vizitën në Irlandë gjatë vitit të kaluar, duke theksuar lidhjen e thellë midis vendeve tona të ndërtuar mbi miqësinë e vërtetë, vlerat e përbashkëta dhe solidaritetin e palëkundur.
“Mbështetja e palëkundur e Irlandës për Kosovën, nga avancimi i shkëmbimeve arsimore dhe kulturore deri te forcimi i lidhjeve tona diplomatike, ka qenë i paçmueshëm. Avokimi i Irlandës për Kosovën në organizatat ndërkombëtare qëndron si një testament për partneritetin tonë të qëndrueshëm”, tha kryeministri Kurti.
Në vijim veçoi dhe potencialin e bashkëpunimit e iniciativat për diasporën, gjersa shprehu dhe urimet për qeverinë e re në Irlandë dhe kryeministrin e ri të vendit, Micheál Martin.
Në përfundim kryeministri çmoi vlerat që na bashkojnë, unitetin, qëndrueshmërinë dhe shpresën, dhe riafirmoi angazhimin për të forcuar miqësinë mes dy popujve tanë, duke siguruar bashkëpunim edhe më të madh, sukses të ndërsjellë dhe arritje të përbashkëta në vitet në vijim.

It is a great honour to join you in celebrating Ireland’s National Day and St. Patrick’s Day, a day that embodies the rich heritage, historic resilience, and global spirit of Irish people.
I fondly recall my visit to Ireland last year, hosted by then Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, where I witnessed first-hand the profound bond between our countries – a bond built on true friendship, shared values, and unwavering solidarity. Ireland’s steadfast support for Kosova, from advancing educational and cultural exchanges to strengthening our diplomatic ties, has been invaluable. Ireland’s advocacy for Kosova in international organisations stands as a testament to our enduring partnership.
In particular, Kosova and Ireland have the potential to build a strong bridge in the field of diaspora engagement by exchanging experiences and best practices for strengthening communities abroad. In collaboration with some Irish experts, we have been able to build some effective platforms and programs to share the diaspora matters within our institutions and with other countries through Ulpiana Forum and Diaspora Diplomacy School. In the future, we have an interest in replicating the model of The Irish Emigration Museum (EPIC) in Dublin as a way to document and promote the history of Albanian migration. Additionally, in recent years, there has been a growing interest in higher education cooperation between Kosova and Ireland, materialized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Dublin City University (DCU), covering research and academic collaboration.
The memorandum is expected to open new opportunities for joint research projects, cooperation in teaching and studies, scholarships for students from Kosova, as well as the development of online programs, conferences, seminars, and joint workshops.
On this occasion, I would also like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the new Government of Ireland and to Taoiseach Micheál Martin. I wish them success and prosperity in leading Ireland toward continued progress.
Today, as we celebrate Ireland’s history, global influence, and vibrant culture, we also reflect on the values that brings us together – unity, resilience, and hope. These are values that Kosova deeply cherishes. As we raise our glasses, let us reaffirm our commitment to strengthening our friendship between our two peoples, ensuring even greater cooperation, mutual success, and shared achievements in the years ahead.
