Kryeministri i Republikës së Kosovës, Albin Kurti, mori pjesë mbrëmjen e sotme në ngjarjen e organizuar për shënimin e 25 vjetorit të misionit të OSBE-së në Kosovë.
Në fjalën e tij, duke shprehur se ky vit shënon 25 vjetorin e paqes dhe çlirimit në Kosovë, si dhe 25 vjetorin e misionit të OSBE-së në vendin tonë, kryeministri tha se ndërsa festojmë këto momente historike, ne gjejmë gjithashtu kohën për të njohur individët dhe institucionet që kanë luajtur një rol kryesor në sigurimin e lirisë dhe paqes që e gëzojmë sot.
“Një figurë e tillë është ambasadori William Walker. Para se OSBE-ja të kishte një mision në Kosovë, pati një mision verifikues të udhëhequr nga ambasadori Walker. Ky mision ishte dëshmitar i një prej masakrave më të tmerrshme në vendin tonë, masakrën e Reçakut, ku u vranë 45 civilë – e cila ishte një nga mbi 400 masakrat e kryera nga aparati shtetëror serb në Kosovë. E vërteta për këtë masakër ekspozoi brutalitetin që po përballonte Kosova dhe ndihmoi në nxitjen e ndërhyrjes së NATO-s.” tha kryeministri.
Më tej, nënvizoi se gjatë viteve OSBE-ja ka ndihmuar shtetin tonë në ngritjen e një demokracie më të fuqishme duke investuar në sigurinë dhe të drejtat e njeriut, e ku ndër nismat e saj përmendi mbështetjen për Akademinë tonë të Policisë, ndihma për transmetuesin publik dhe me institucionet që mbikëqyrin proceset zgjedhore, si Komisioni Qendror i Zgjedhjeve.
Ai vlerësoi bashkëpunimin e ngushtë me ambasadorin Davenport dhe misionin e OSBE-së në Kosovë, veçanërisht sa i përket komuniteteve joshumicë. “Në një kohë kaq të rëndësishme për sigurinë e vendit dhe rajonit, jam mirënjohës për profesionalizmin, kujdesin dhe mbështetjen e treguar, si dhe për pasionin për të drejtat e njeriut dhe sundimin e ligjit, demokracinë dhe prosperitetin e popullit dhe shoqërisë sonë.” u shpreh kryeministri.
Në përfundim, kryeministri theksoi se parimet dhe vlerat e OSBE-së si organizatë rezonojnë thellë në demokracinë e vendit tonë dhe se Kosova është një partner i besueshëm dhe do të vazhdojë të jetë një aleat i vlefshëm në rrugën përpara.

Dear members of Parliament of the Republic of Kosova,
Dear ambassadors and other representatives of diplomatic missions in Kosova,
Religious leaders, representatives of non-governmental organizations,
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
This year marks the 25th anniversary of peace and liberation in Kosova, as well as 25 years of the OSCE mission in our country. As we celebrate these milestones, we also take the time to recognize the individuals and institutions that have played a pivotal role in securing the freedom and peace we enjoy today.
This year especially, we have taken the time to reflect and pay respect to the contributions of key figures who have profoundly impacted our country through their outspoken stance against genocide and their unwavering professional and humanitarian efforts. One such figure is Ambassador William Walker. Before the OSCE had a mission in Kosova, it had a verification mission led by Ambassador Walker. This mission bore witness to one of the worst massacres in our country, the Reçak massacre, where 45 civilians were killed—one of over 400 Serbian state-led massacres committed in Kosova. The truth about this massacre exposed the brutality that Kosova was enduring and helped prompt the subsequent NATO intervention.
Soon after that, twenty-five years ago, the OSCE established a mission in Kosova, its largest field mission to date. Over the years, it has helped us foster a stronger democracy by investing in our security and human rights. Among its many notable initiatives in the country are the support for our Police Academy, assistance to our public broadcaster, and help with institutions that oversee electoral processes, such as the Central Election Commission.
During my mandate, I had the good fortune of working with Ambassador Davenport, the head of the mission here. I particularly value the strong cooperation established between my office as Prime Minister and the OSCE, especially concerning non-majority communities. In such a pivotal time for the security of the region, not just our country, I am grateful for the professionalism, care, and support shown, as well as the passion for human rights and rule of law, democracy and the prosperity of our people and our society.
In the past 25 years, Kosova has been a focal area of the OSCE’s work for about half of its existence since its inception. This principle of the final act of the Helsinki Conference, which led to the creation of the organization—namely territorial integrity, peaceful settlement of disputes, respect for human rights, and refraining from threats—resonate deeply with the democracy of our country and are highly relevant for Europe as a whole, especially at the current time.
I would like to thank you for your work, collaboration, and the values-led approach of your organization. Kosova is a trusted partner and will continue to be a valuable ally to you as we move forward together.
