At the invitation of President of the Association “Woman of time and economy” and the mayor of Durres, Vangjel Dako, Minister for dialogue Edita Tahiri stayed yesterday in Durres, where she participated in the event “The woman, a symbol of resistance” whereby promoted successful women of Durres from different fields and two personalities from Kosovo, Edita Tahiri and Flora Brovina.
In the presence of well-known personalities of the city of Durres, Minister Edita Tahiri, who was the special guest of this event, was honoured with the title “Symbol of Resistance” from the city of Durres. Mayor Roland Xhelili handed gratitude to Minister Tahiri stressing that this is a tribute to her long activity in the service of the national cause and as a prominent Albanian, patriotic, politician, diplomat and intellectual woman. He highly appreciated the commitment of the Minister Tahiri in political and diplomatic service and the independence of Kosovo Albanians.
In her speech, Minister Edita Tahiri thanked the President Myzejen Konduri and Mayor of Durres for the honour, stating that she feels very honoured by the city of Durres and its citizens, and said that the title “Symbol of Resistance” sublimates the all this activity for the liberation and independence Kosovars and Albanians. “Working in the service of the nation and the homeland is a work full inspiration, but also with many sacrifices, but the feeling that I was helping my people to realize the dream of freedom and independence has given me the needed strength during these twenty-six years “said Minister Tahiri. After she spoke about her family origin, saying: “As a mother I belong to Albania and as a father I belong to Kosovo, but it always bothers me that we are one nation with four five homelands. We must be together, as a nation and a homeland and not allow injustice to our nation to determine our future. Kosovo and Albania are two Euro-Atlantic countries the Albanian nation traditionally is a western nation. Now we need to strengthen our nation states in strengthening the legal and economic point of view. While my vision is to empower the nation and the empowerment of women should go together, because women with their power will be an important force for growth and prosperity, said Minister Tahiri.
In her speech, the initiator and organizer of this event Myzejen Konduri known writer, said that the woman is a miracle, which give only love. The reason for choosing these 10 honored women who have contributed to the city of Durres is not only professionalism achieved in the area where they work for years with passion and love, but their devotion to family, as a wife and mother. She said that Mrs. Edita Tahiri is a symbol of resistance for the entire Albanian nation and not only for women, adding that her high political, diplomatic and academic profile makes it on the top of successful women.
In this event, titled “Symbol of Resistance” was awarded the deputy Flora Brovina for her perennial activity in service of the national and humanitarian.
