Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Ramiz Kelmendi visited today the municipality of Gjakova and was received by the Mayor of this municipality, Mimoza Kusari-Lila.
During the meeting they discussed issues related to local economic development with particular emphasis on the possibilities of stimulating local production.
Deputy Prime Minister Kelmendi stressed that the purpose of his visit is to look closely at the possibilities of assistance to the municipality.
“In the municipality of Gjakova there are many unused areas of industrial facilities that are essential for the economic development of the municipality of Gjakova and the Republic of Kosovo. We are interested in how to push these processes so that these surfaces are transformed into economic zones and be available to municipalities to provide support for existing and new investors who appear for self-employment or for further investment “said Deputy Prime Minister Kelmendi.
Mayor of Gjakova, Mimoza Kusari-Lila informed Deputy Prime Minister Kelmendi with the work being done by the municipality for the establishment of Business Park, as well as the grant scheme that the municipality has for small businesses.
“We agree on many points with Deputy Prime Minister Kelmendi for the necessity of stimulating production, the necessity of commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo but also of municipalities to improve fiscal policy, and we as a municipality expect bigger cooperation in the following weeks and months in relation to our requirements, “said Kusari-Lila .
During the visit to Gjakova, Deputy Prime Minister Kelmendi visited Craftsman Association where he was received by Chairman of the association, Ali Haraçija.
Deputy Prime Minister Kelmendi praised their work of craftsmen, who are an important part of the cultural heritage of Kosovo.
“It is an association which nurtures our culture, has a different crafts, we want to be inherited. We’ll see as the Government of the Republic of Kosovo what we can do with the policies of taxation so that this association and these craftsmen survive and push forward the process of cultural maintenance that Gjakova has, “said Deputy Prime Minister Kelmendi.
Chairman of the association welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister’s interest to help this association.
“The issue of Kosovo craftsmen must be supported and craftsmen should be encouraged a lot to come to the development of handicrafts,” said Haraçija.
In Gjakova Deputy Prime Minister Kelmendi visited textile factories “Creative”, “Jeans West” and “TB-TRIKO” and shopping centre “Nertili”.
