Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri hosted in a meeting the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri, hosted today in a meeting the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), composed of members of the Management Board and Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The delegation was led by Mr. Dilekli Evren, Turkish representative and member of the Management Board, as well as representatives from the USA, Japan, France, Great Britain, Denmark, Lithuania, Netherlands, Ireland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Mongolia and Kosovo. The delegation was accompanied by the Head of the EBRD Office in Kosovo, Mr. Anton Kobakov and Mr. Holger Muent, EBRD Director for Western Balkans.

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri highly appreciated the cooperation between Kosovo and EBRD by empasizing that Kosovo membership in EBRD has opened new perspectives for the economic development of Kosovo. She expressed the commitment of the Government of Kosovo for a sustainable economic development, considering the great economic potentials of our country’s and human capital, where the role and support of the EBRD has special value.

Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Prime Minister Thaçi thanked the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the support given to Kosovo to become a member with full rights. Ms. Tahiri also thanked member states, and for the assistance given to different sectors, by assuring them that the Kosovo Government is committed to its institutional capacity to implement development projects in the country, which would have directly impact on improving the lives of citizens and creating an environment for foreign investment.

Afterwards, Ms. Tahiri spoke about the Euro-Atlantic vision of Kosovo, by stressing that Kosovo Government is committed to implementing reforms and Euro-Atlantic values and in this regard our policies are clear and our commitment is complete. Ms. Tahiri stressed out that Kosovo’s progress toward implementation of European reforms are substantial such as the field of rule of law, support for sustainable economic development, good governance, rule of law, human capacity development and increasing the social welfare of citizens. She emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership with the Euro-Atlantic community and support on the European and Euro-Atlantic path to the young state of Kosovo.

Speaking to regional stability and security, she said that the state of Kosovo is an important factor for peace and stability in the region with its policy of good neighbourly relations and regional cooperation, which has demonstrated in Brussels dialogue for good neighbourly relations with Serbia.

EBRD delegation appreciated the cooperation with Kosovo and pledged that the EBRD will continue to support the state of Kosovo in areas of interest to economic development, human capital development, and increasing the exchange of experiences in areas of mutual interest, by making Kosovo even more attractive place for foreign investment to the benefit of all citizens.
